Dan Sultan
Melbourne-based singer-songwriter, Dan Sultan has been invited to perform along industry greats like Paul Kelly, Kev Carmody, Archie Roach and Missy Higgins at major events nationwide. Dubbed “the black Elvis” by fellow performer Clare Bowditch, Sultan’s roots-blues-country rock fusion has won critical acclaim.
Dan was identified by John Butler, who funded his debut album, Homemade Biscuits with 'Your Love is Like a Song', receiving the 2007 Deadly Award for Single Release of the Year. Sultan has evoked emotion-charged responses from massive audiences at music festivals including Woodford, Port Fairy and Byron Bay’s East Coast Blues and Roots Festival, as well as Black Arm Band at the Sydney Opera House.
Sultan is expected to release his much anticipated second album in May 2009.
