AUDIENCES DISCOVER THE HIDDEN SONGS AND LOST STORIES OF 20TH CENTURY INDIGENOUS LIFE ON THE MISSIONS IN THIS ENTERTAINING AND ENLIGHTENING MUSICAL EXPERIENCE
Some of Australia’s best-loved singers – Jessie Lloyd, Emma Donovan, Deline Briscoe and Jessica Hitchcock – invited audiences to discover Australian Indigenous songs that reflected life on missions in the 20th century.
Award-winning composer and performer Jessie Lloyd is dedicated to the continuation of story and song through the performance of Indigenous music. As part of the Mission Songs Project she had travelled Australia in search of hidden songs and lost stories from the days of the missions. This rare narrative, connecting the traditional with the contemporary, was brought to life in one entertaining and enlightening musical experience.
Mission Songs Project was presented by Queensland Music Festival, Brisbane City Council, The University of Queensland and State Library Of Queensland.
