Hailed by the New Yorker as “the most remarkable virtuoso in the relatively unchronicled history of his instrument”, Edgar Meyer, along with Queensland Music Festival (QMF), has offered music students a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Meyer will lead a masterclass for tertiary level double bass students from Queensland universities. QMF is offering audiences the opportunity to witness an artist of unrivalled skill and ability guide some of Queensland’s brightest and most talented young musicians. They will witness that most rare and beautiful thing – the gift of learning passed down by genius.
Meyer, who is in demand as a performer, a composer, and a collaborator, began studying the bass himself at only five years old and throughout his illustrious career has been awarded the Avery Fisher Prize, a MacArthur Award, and a Grammy.
