EVERYONE HAS A STORY WORTH TELLING
Jesse’s family has always loved singing, dancing and telling stories. When a
talent scout visits their remote Indigenous community and picks Jesse out
from the rest, it seems like the opportunity of a lifetime. But being away from
home is not easy, and city life is not quite what Jesse expected. It is only when
Jesse meets Sam, they both learn that everyone’s story is important.
Covering themes of friendship, family, acceptance, storytelling and courage,
My Story, Your Story will take students on a journey from remote Indigenous
communities to the big city.
Incorporating a variety of language conventions, including spoken word,
poetry, song and Aboriginal language, as well as traditional dance and rhythm
making, this piece of Indigenous theatre (performed in-the-round) highlights
the importance of cultural identity and individuality.
