Brisbane to Bundaberg Yacht Race

2026

Connecting the Coasts

QMF was proud to partner with the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS) for the inaugural Brisbane to Bundaberg Offshore Yacht Race.

More than Music

It’s a partnership that speaks to something bigger. Pairing live music with an emerging sporting event gave competitors, the community and supporters and partners a soundtrack to the celebration and a chance to connect and reflect after the race.

It’s also a case study in how arts programming can support tourism and destination events – turning a race result into a regional moment.

From Coast to Coast

RQYS launched the Brisbane to Bundaberg Offshore Yacht Race to create a new offshore challenge linking two of Queensland’s key sailing destinations. The race marks the beginning of what organisers hope will become a fixture on the offshore racing calendar.

The 250-nautical-mile journey began at Manly Harbour in Brisbane and finished at the Port of Bundaberg. The winners were welcomed on shore with a lively celebration of performances delivered by QMF.

Entertainment by the Shore

QMF was invited to partner with RQYS to deliver the entertainment for the official race finish, with performances from Ryan Giles (a proud Bundaberg local) and Bradley McCaw (yacht rock extraordinaire).

Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron Patron, Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD, and Her Excellency the Hon Dr Jeanette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, attended the presentation ceremony alongside Bundaberg Region Mayor, Helen Blackburn, helping celebrate the conclusion of the race’s inaugural edition.

As the Brisbane to Bundaberg Offshore Yacht Race grows into a signature annual event, QMF looks forward to growing the partnership with RQYS.
