Bringing Gympie’s City Centre to Life
QMF joined forces with Gympie Music Muster, Gympie Regional Council and the Australian Institute of Country Music (AICM) to deliver Muster on Mary – a free community celebration that brings spirit of the Muster to the city of Gympie.
An Intro into the Muster
The day began with artist development workshops for AICM students which involved working alongside established artists and industry professionals, sharpening their performance with songwriting craft and helping build connections that could carry them further into their careers.
Performances from emerging artists took over Mary Street as part of a busking trail in the late afternoon, drawing visitors in and out of local shops and public spaces as they followed the music from corner to corner, turning an ordinary afternoon into something worth wandering for.
As evening fell, the celebrations continued, where crowds gathered at Nelson Reserve for a concert featuring three marquee country music artists, and QMF alumni Taylor Moss.
Music, Artists and Community
Muster on Mary wasn’t just an afternoon of music – it was a day that gave a regional town centre something to gather around. It gave musicians a genuine step forward in their careers and showed what’s possible when a community, its artists and the people behind the scenes all pull together in the same direction.
Naturally it all connected to form an experience like no other. Students enjoyed quality time with professionals who’d walked the path before them. Emerging performers found a genuine audience on a real stage. And the Gympie community got to spend a free afternoon and evening wandering their own streets to the sound of live music, meeting the people who make it possible along the way.
